Field Engineer (Full-time)

Zurich, Switzerland | on-site | starting  ~July 2025

We are looking for a hands-on Field Engineer to join our team and actively contribute to the deployment of our robotic systems in real-world environments.
We’re a young and dynamic team, and your role will be broad and impactful – from operating robots and testing in the field to training customers and debugging on-site. You’ll work side by side with the founding team to shape our technology, company, and culture.

At RoBoa, you’ll grow with the company and take on real responsibility from day one. You’ll gain deep insights into building robotics systems that solve meaningful challenges in industrial infrastructure. If you’re looking for variety, ownership, and a team where your work makes a difference, this is for you!
As an ideal candidate, you will be highly motivated, eager to work on a challenging deep-tech topic with real-world impact, capable of working autonomously and in small teams, and have a strong desire to apply technical systems in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and test robots in the field together with customers.
  • Provide training, on-site support, and assist with customer integration.
  • Conduct field testing and collect feedback to improve reliability and usability.
  • Debug systems and communicate technical input to the engineering team.
  • Travel regularly for deployments within Switzerland and internationally.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Strong motivation and goal-oriented working attitude.
  • Comfortable working independently and in small teams, and willing to take responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Fluent communication in English and German; Italian and French is a plus.
  • Excellent communicator with a strong customer focus who enjoys working with users to build and maintain trusted relationships.
  • Experience with robotic systems, testing, or technical field operations.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Great to have

  • Field robotics experience or hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Skills in software, mechanics, or electronics.
  • Startup or customer-facing experience.
  • Familiarity with CAD, system-level design, Python, C++, ROS, and Linux-based systems.

What we offer

  • Direct collaboration with the founders and the chance to actively shape our product and company.
  • Opportunity to grow into a core role in an early-stage robotics startup.
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Exposure to real-world deployments and pilot customers.
  • A team culture focused on technical excellence, openness, and shared ownership.
  • Regular joint team activities including team dinners and surprise events.
