roboa's Origin

2026

The Future

The year kicks off with new team members, more deployments, a new corporate identity, and big goals!
2025

The roboa AG

In February, the roboa AG is incorporated. Dan joins as the first employee to lead hardware development, and throughout the year we grow to over 10 people supporting field operations, engineering and tube production. We secure major grant funding (BRIDGE, InnoBooster, ESA BIC, Innosuisse). By the year’s end, the co-founders make the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, and co-founder Pascal hasn’t taken of his Forbes hat ever since. The year finishes with a team of more than 10 people.
2024

Going All In

After 3.5 years of development alongside their master studies, the co-founders start working full-time in January 2024 as part of the ETH Pioneer Fellowship. roboa secured its first funding from Venture Kick and wins multiple awards such as the prestigious Swiss Technology Award 2024.
2020

roboa Takes Shape

After a year of full-time development — and some hiccups, like accidentally ordering perforated plates for a pressure tank and not having control of the office shutters (leading to many dark weekends) — the first roboa prototype is ready. Driven by positive feedback and continued interest, the founders continue developing the technology along their studies. This is done at the Autonomous Systems Lab under Prof. Roland Siegwart, who later becomes one of roboa’s co-founding board members.
2019

The Idea Is Born

In the third year of their studies at ETH Zurich, roboa's current co-founders decide to start one of the notorious “focus-projects” as part of their bachelor studies. The objective? Developing a search and rescue robot capable of navigating collapsed buildings. roboa is born!
